Mindfulness and Compassion are Healthy!
Science has been busy proving the health benefits of meditation practices. An on-going study at Harvard is showing how meditation and yoga practice can switch on and off some genes that are linked to stress and our body’s immune function. A study at Emory University found that compassion meditation, a Tibetan Buddhist tradition, can improve your ability to empathize with others as you respond to their facial expressions. Another study at Universities of Michigan and North Carolina found that loving-kindness mediation increases the practitioner’s health and positive emotions, including a deeper sense of life’s purpose and satisfaction with life.
